I am speechless.
When I saw that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) referred to illegal aliens as “my constituents,” during a House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing last week, I was floored.
Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross was on so-called “hot seat” when AOC turn came around for questioning. She focused on the “citizenship question” which the Trump administration is trying to add back to the census, to be taken in 2020.
Ross wrote a memo about why the citizenship question should be added back to the Census.
“The Department of Commerce is not able to determine definitively how inclusion of a citizenship question on the decennial census will impact responsiveness.
However, even if there is some impact on responses, the value of more complete and accurate data derived from surveying the entire population outweighs such concerns.
Completing and returning decennial census questionnaires is required by Federal law, those responses are protected by law, and inclusion of a citizenship question on the 2020 decennial census will provide more complete information for those who respond,” Ross wrote.
