Joy Behar rips Trump for branding Parkland school cop a ‘coward’: ‘You think he’d have gone into that building?’

Comedian Joy Behar on Friday slammed Donald Trump after he suggested the armed Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School resource officer was a “coward” for not engaging the shooter during the Parkland massacre earlier this month.“Deputy Sheriff Peterson, I guess his name is,” Trump told reporters on the South Lawn, adding the officer “certainly did a poor job” when responding to the mass shooting.

“There’s no question about that,” Trump said. “He was there for five minutes, for five minutes. that was during the entire shooting. He heard it right at the beginning and he certainly did a poor job. But that’s the case where somebody was outside. They’re trained, they didn’t react properly under pressure or they were a coward. It was a real shock to the police department.”

Noting the “raging debate” about guns in school, Behar told “The View” on Friday, “it turns out there was an armed guard at the high school in Parkland who stayed outside while 17 people were fatally shot.”

“Trump just called him a coward a few minutes ago,” Behar added. “Do you think that’s a appropriate thing to do?”

“Do you think Trump would have gone into that building?” Behar wondered.
