Appearing on The View today, CPAC organizer Matt Schlapp was confronted by co-host — and daughter of John McCain — Meghan McCain,
who wanted to know why the conservative conference couldn’t show a little respect for her family as her dad is suffering through a life-threatening ailment.“I have to tell you when President Trump called out my dad and led a crowd of booing I was so upset and hurt,” McCain told Schlapp. McCain added that while she knows it was about her father’s vote, why weren’t the other GOP senators that voted against the measure brought up.
“Why at this moment when he’s suffering from the worst brain cancer that exists and going through chemo why there can’t be a modicum of respect for my family at this moment from CPAC?” McCain forcefully asked Schlapp, to applause from the crowd
After Schlapp said it was a “very good point,” the View co-host further noted that Schlapp defended the actions on Twitter and that it disappointed her.
Schlapp went on to call John McCain a “national hero” and that his family is keeping him in their prayers. He also noted that as far as the Arizona lawmaker is concerned, the disagreements should be kept to policy, adding that John McCain is a “good man.”
